So, here you are, you’ve spent time writing a few hundred words adding a picture and then you published it to your blog, now it’s time to sit back and wait. WRONG!
It is now time to rework that blog post into more literary avenues through re-purposing the information. This comes back to the concept of create it once and sell it multiple times. You can do this by taking the same information and building it into different media.
You have already done the difficult work of research, organizing your ideas and writing. From here on out, it is much easier because you are only changing the way it is presented. You can take the content and create it into video, interviews, e-book, audio or video podcasts, other blog posts, article series, book or a speech, the list can be endless.
One of the steps that you can take for this process is, to make a list or two. After you have fine tuned your post but before you publish it, look at it and take it apart. Who did you talk about? What sites or apps did you mention? Could you show visually how to do what you talked about? Could you tell a story about it? Add the answers to a list and get to work. Once you publish it, watch for comments and questions and use these as materials for other posts and ideas.
Another list to begin is one that outlines the steps you take to re-purpose your post. What questions do you ask? What do you look for? What needs highlighted? Add to this list the steps to create a video, podcasts or other digital media. Once you have this list and have fine tuned it, not only will it help you as you go through this process, but you can use it as a tool for outsourcing your work.
As you ask yourself questions to break apart your post, you will also be able to use that information to help you craft strong headlines and as we all know, a strong headline is what draws people into a post.
What ideas do you have for re-purposing your information?
